Alexey Shelvakh

Alexey Shelvakh was born in 1948 and worked for twenty-eight years as a lathe operator in Leningrad. For the past ten years he has been an editor and translator for the St. Petersburg publishers Azbuka and Amphora. His poems were originally published in Samizdat and later in a number of anthologies. He appears in a new collection of St. Petersburg poets, 21 Vek: Stikhl v Peterburge (Platforma, 2005). His first book, Chernovik Otvagi, appeared in 1992.
