C. K. Stead

C. K. Stead was born in Auckland, New Zealand, in 1932. He is a poet, fiction writer, and critic, best known for his critical study, The New Poetic, Yeats to Eliot (1964). Recent publications include Shelf Life, Reviews, Replies and Reminiscences (Auckland University Press, 2016), The Name on the Door is not Mine, Stories New and Selected (Allen & Unwin, 2016), and The Yellow Buoy (Auckland University Press and Arc, 2013). A novel, The Necessary Angel, is forthcoming from Allen & Unwin in 2017 (Auckland and Sydney) and 2018 (London). He is the New Zealand poet laureate.
