Chuck Close

Chuck Close is one of the preeminent artists of the postwar era. Since his first solo show in 1967, he has had over a hundred one-man exhibitions. He is the recipient of many awards, including a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship and the National Medal of Arts, and his work can be found in numerous collections, including the Art Institute of Chicago, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Centre Georges Pompidou, the Museum of Modern Art, the National Gallery of Art, and the Tate Gallery. He lives and works in New York City.
