Ivan Blatný

Ivan Blatný (1919–1990) is an important Czech poet whose work remains largely unknown to English readers. Highly acclaimed in the 1940s, he disappeared from the Czech scene following his decision in 1948 to emigrate to England. Two collections of Blatný’s exile poetry have been published: Stará bydliště (Old Addresses, 1979) and Pomocná škola Bixley (Bixley Remedial School, 1987).
