Katherine Vaz

Katherine Vaz, former Briggs-Copeland Fellow in Fiction at Harvard University and Fellow of the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Studies, is the author of Saudade (St. Martins, 1994) and Mariana (Flamingo, 1997), which was selected by the Library of Congress as one of the top thirty international books of 1998. Her collection Fado & Other Stories (University of Pittsburgh Press) won the 1997 Drue Heinz Literature Prize, and Our Lady of the Artichokes & Other Portuguese-American Stories (University of Nebraska Press) won the 2007 Prairie Schooner Book Prize. She lives in New York City with her husband, Christopher Cerf.
